Au XVIIème siècle, la ville de Tréguier connaît une prospérité économique due à la culture du lin. La population travaille à la filature, au tissage du lin et le port en assure le transport. Revers de la médaille, la préparation de la filasse par rouissage et teillage pollue l’eau de surface. Ainsi est construit en 1623 l’aqueduc du Guindy qui captait l'eau de la fontaine de Crewen, aujourd'hui tarie, afin d’alimenter en eau potable la ville de Tréguier. Cet aqueduc, constitué de huit arches, a encore très fière allure dans la campagne trégoroise. L’explication concernant la construction de l’aqueduc semble cohérente mais un doute persiste car je n’en ai pas trouvé la confirmation.
Prendre le temps de se promener dans le charmant village du Guindy, ancien village de teilleurs de lin, situé à une centaine de mètre du parking.

In the XVIIth century, the city of Tréguier knows an economic prosperity due to the culture of the linen. The population works on the spinning, in the weaving of the linen and the port insures the transport. Other side of medal, the preparation of the tow by retting and scutching pollutes the water of surface. So is built in 1623 the aqueduct of Guindy, constituted by eight arcs, which got
the water of the fountain of Crewen, today dried up, to feed with drinking water the city of Tréguier. This aqueduct has still proud look in the Trégor country. The explanation concerning the construction of the aqueduct seems coherent but a doubt persists because I did not find confirmation.
Take time to walk in the charming village of Guindy, ancient village of linen scutching,located at one hundred meters from parking.
